Advanced typography, by Richard Hunt, published by Bloomsbury Visual Arts in 2020, is a book intended for senior students of graphic design, but everybody who works with typography will find facts and approaches that will widen their perspectives on the practice of typography.
ContentsArchetype has been in business since 1987. Starting as a type shop supplying typographic repro for paste-up, the advent of desktop computers led to wider consulting and collaboration with designers including text design, wordmark design and refinement, typeface design. Clients include graphic designers, publishers, architects, retailers and advertising firms.
ProjectsRichard Hunt has been teaching typography since 2002 at Sheridan College, York University, Humber College, and OCAD University, all in the Toronto area. He has also presented on the topic of typographic education for the AIGA, Typecon, and the Registered Graphic Designers of Ontario.
AssignmentsArchetype has produced typefaces and refined typographic wordmarks for graphic designers, publishers, architects, and advertising firms, and others. They include display, text and icon faces, as well as revivals of typefaces of the past that have fallen out of use.
